The neZEH project aimed to accelerate the rate of renovations of the European hospitality sector into Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) by providing technical advice, demonstrating flagship nZEB projects and conducting training and capacity building activities.
Creara was the national task leader for Spain leading the retrofitting of 2 facilities into Nearly Zero-Energy Hotels; and developing at national level a pan-European stakeholder’s network. In addition, Creara contributed to upgrade an existing tool (developed by Hotel Energy Solutions) to empower SME hotel owners to assess their energy consumption levels and to choose the best solutions to nZEB levels.
Results achieved
Sixteen hotels across seven European countries (Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Romania, Spain and Sweden) have become neZEH pilot hotels and will undertake medium term large scale renovation plans to accomplish NZEB goals. neZEH hotels have started the renovation process, to achieve 1.123 toe/year savings in primary energy and 2.556 tCO 2 e/year reduction of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) emissions.
